About the position
Friendship is looking for a Security Guard to join our Friendship Health and Rehab North team, located in Roanoke, VA. The Security Guard will ensure the safety of residents, visitors and staff on a daily basis. They will assist with directing activities associated with emergency situations that may arise on campus.
Responsibilities
- Make rounds on property and in buildings; checks doors and lock/unlock as appropriate
- Respond to all fire alarms- RACE
- Meet the rescue squad at resident apartments in cases of emergency
- Check fire extinguishers monthly
- Alert Police Department as appropriate; communicate to switchboard that Police have been notified of emergency/issue
- Log activities daily and report them to the next guard at shift change
- Check security vehicles regularly and report any maintenance concerns to the Security Manager/ Executive Director of Facilities and Maintenance
- Maintain the Cut-off book in the security vehicles to be able to assist with water, electrical, fire alarm shut offs
- Patrol parking lot and issue tickets to cars parked in 'No Parking' zones
- Subject to call-back during emergency situations, i.e. severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License in the State of Virginia
- Knowledge of evacuation and emergency preparedness principles
