Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and/or staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner while documenting relevant details and reporting concerns through proper channels.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location, common areas, entry points, and perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify unusual conditions.
• Monitor access to the location by observing arrivals and departures, verifying authorization when required, and reporting suspicious behavior, policy violations, and/or maintenance-related concerns.
• Support daily operations at a shelter location by assisting with de-escalation, directing individuals to the appropriate staff or resources, and maintaining a visible presence during routine activities.
