About The Position

The Security Guard is responsible for the overall protection, care, and supervision of the residents on campus. This position is available to assist and support workforce members as necessary and guard the property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the duties listed below.

Requirements

A minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
Must have a valid California driver’s license and good driving record.
Must be physically, mentally, and occupationally capable of performing assigned tasks for this class of employee.
Must meet Title XXII personnel requirements with regard to fingerprinting, forms, and documents.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certificates within 30 days of employment.
Obtain within the first 30 days of employment Pro-Act (Professional Assault Crisis Training).
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite, in particular Word.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience as a security guard is preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

Patrol the buildings and the perimeter of the grounds.
Examine doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehend or expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
Inspect equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.
Sound alarm or call the police or the fire department by telephone in case of fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.
Permit authorized persons to enter the property.
Regularly report the times inspections were made at various designated points around campus.
Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning machinery or equipment for use of supervisory staff.
Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at the entrance to maintain orderly flow.
Other duties as assigned.
