Under the direction of the Security Manager, the Security Guard exercises strong initiative and independent judgment, follows security policies and procedures, and maintains detailed and accurate documentation. With his exemplary behavior and conduct, he always sets a good example for the entire staff. This position focuses, among other things, on the management of patient belongings and their transportation, control, storage, and documentation. This position also required an understanding of our patients and their special needs.

  • Behavior is expected which reflects that working, as a team is more important than self-interest.
  • Required to work some weekends and holidays. Shifts can be adjusted per hospital needs.
  • Provide surveillance, and perform security procedures for the facility.
  • Perform regular rounds of the hospital and grounds.
  • Provide emergency alarm responses and assist in evacuating the building if instructed.
  • Respond to and report security incidents.
  • Take appropriate action in securing against or responding to the hospital code policies.
  • Answer questions and give directions to employees and respond to security concerns and complaints.
  • Report operational failure of HVAC, electrical or plumbing equipment.
  • Display courteous, respectful, and responsive behavior toward the staff, general public and customers.
  • Display positive and confident professional behavior.
  • Understand and successfully execute his/her post orders including enforcement of company policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Arrives to work in clean and professional attire.
  • Comprehends the Hospital fire alarm system.
  • Comprehends how to deactivate electrical power, natural gas, and supply water in the event of an internal disaster.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Ability to analyze problems and exercise independent judgment, interact effectively with the public, and understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Adopt quick, effective courses of action
  • Write legibly and learn the operation of closed circuit TV (CCTV) and video surveillance systems and electronic access control systems.
  • Communicate department issues with the Manager.
  • Courteous and friendly behavior toward patients, visitors and colleagues.
  • High school diploma or GED or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Possession of a current California Guard Card issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services upon appointment
  • Possession of a valid California C Driver License.
  • Pro-Act / HWC certification within 30 days of employment.
  • IAHSS Certification are welcome but not required.
