As a Security Guard NYS Licensed Patrol Officer in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, where you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and remain visible to help discourage security-related incidents. You will support access awareness, interact with residents and visitors, and deliver strong customer service through clear communication, teamwork, reliability, and integrity in a people-first environment.

Requirements

  • A New York State Security Guard License is required.
  • A minimum of 6 or more months of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or appropriate emergency response activities at the shelter location.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and document observed activity in accordance with site expectations.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the facility, common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and report unusual conditions.
  • Monitor access points and assist with visitor and resident movement, while supporting shelter operations through clear communication and professional interaction.
  • Assist with de-escalation support when needed, contact emergency services and/or site leadership as appropriate, and follow post orders for incident response and reporting.
