About The Position

GAHHS security guards are tasked with ensuring the safety for patients, visitors, and employees while on the GAHHS campus. Security Guards are also responsible for carrying out loss prevention tactics as well as proactive approaches of ensuring a campus free of criminal incidents. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Eighteen years of age or older
  • Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license
  • Must have a valid Illinois Firearm Owner’s Identification Card (F.O.I.D.) or have the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire date.
  • Must have a valid Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC Card) or have the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire date.
  • Must be able to successfully complete/pass the assigned Taser, Handcuffing, & O.C. training within 6 months of hire and complete refresher training annually.
  • Must obtain training certificate for M.A.C.H. Control Tactics within 6 months of hire date.
  • Must obtain IAHHS Basic Certificate within 12 months of hire. (Persons with an Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board certificate are exempt.)
  • Must attend or complete mental health/behavioral health training within 6 months of hire. Employee must complete refresher training annually either through on-line or in-person means.
  • Must obtain CPR/AED training within 6 months of hire.
  • Must be capable of keeping all necessary certification and training up to date.
  • Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity with eye/hand coordination. Frequent walking, bending, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time. Job requires lifting.
  • Physical strength to perform the following lifting tasks: • Floor to waist - 50 pounds • 14” to waist - 60 pounds • Waist to shoulder - 35 pounds • Shoulder to overhead - 20 pounds • Carry 50 pounds for 30 feet • Push 40 pounds/force for 30 feet • Pull 40 pounds/force for 30 feet
  • Fully mobility on steps, ladders, and at heights. Visual and hearing acuity within normal range with/without corrective devices.

  • Illinois Concealed Carry Permit is preferred.
