Our Security Officers have the awesome responsibility of protecting our beautiful State Capitol building and surrounding state buildings. You'll have the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of people in a calm, compassionate manner. You'll get to think on your feet to solve all kinds of problems from taking control of a medical emergency, providing security for public meetings, help someone into their office that misplaced their keys and everything in between. After business hours you'll maintain vigilance of the buildings with foot and vehicle patrols and monitor security cameras. You get to provide recaps of your day with reports and logs. Provide security for the State Capitol Building and other state buildings in the Lincoln area. Work independently to provide security for state property, respond to emergencies and alarms and provide assistance to state employees and the public. Perform vehicle and foot patrols of interior and exterior of buildings, fire monitoring, use an electronic guard tour system, access control and enforcement of building and parking rules/regulations. Operate audio/visual monitoring devices, monitor computer security system, control after hours building access by employees and visitors. Maintain a summary record of all shift activities, complaints and report to supervisor; learn and maintain "information" to locations to assist visitors. 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesdays/Wednesdays off (Shifts may involve working days, evenings, and nights, along with weekends and holidays as needed for 24-hour coverage.)
