About The Position

Check all doors at Elim Park and Elim Park Place. Oversees that 3-11 and 11-7 staff shifts get to and from their cars safely. Check all fire stations when they are established in an emergency. Essential Job Functions: Check all doors are secured and fire stations. Also check to see if all exit lights and outside lights are functional and report repairs to maintenance. Turn off unnecessary exterior lights in closets, basements, utility rooms, etc. in all buildings. Change all light bulbs when needed. Be able to work with nursing to respond to emergency needs. Use company truck to put salt down to ensure safe conditions for change of shift for residents, staff and visitors. Use salt spreaders to ensure sidewalks are free of slippery hazards. Use Shovels or other snow removal equipment to ensure walkways are free of hazards. Make fire safety rounds – checking emergency lights, exit lights, fire extinguishers on a regular basis. Light housekeeping as needed – ex: Vacuuming entry ways during a storm to ensure ice melt/salt is not tracked through building. Regularly test pool water / place vacuum in pool for nightly cleanings Perform other duties as directed by supervisor. Key Characteristics: Demonstrates neatness, accuracy and dependability. Attends required in-services Equipment to be used: Computer Wand (AMT) to do hourly “punches” Motorized golf cart Company Truck with Salt Spreader in Winter Salt spreaders Shovels Vacuums Pool test equipment / cleaning equipment Key Accountabilities (with or without reasonable accommodation): Responsible for securing building at night (locked up). Checks fire monitoring boards, doors, and windows. Works with nursing staff to respond to emergency calls. Makes security rounds every hour according to rounds station checklist. Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Able to read and speak clearly in English to communicate efficiently in case of an emergency
  • Must be licensed by the state of Connecticut
  • Entails much walking
  • Exposed to outside temperatures
  • Able to stoop, kneel, sit, squat, stand and bend
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Demonstrates neatness, accuracy and dependability
