The Security Guard Supervisor at Fort Worth Botanic Garden (FWBG) leads the Security Team in ensuring the safety and security of all facilities, guests, and staff. This role oversees daily security operations, manages a team of security personnel, and provides a welcoming and safe environment throughout our buildings, parking lots, and garden areas. Customer service is a key component of FWBG’s organizational mission, and the Supervisor plays a vital role in upholding this commitment by training and guiding security staff in guest interactions, conflict de-escalation, and emergency response. This position requires a person with strong integrity, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to effectively coordinate security efforts, address concerns, and implement safety protocols. The Supervisor engages effectively with staff, handles shift scheduling, payroll approvals, and incident reporting and investigation.

  • Maintains a secure, healthy, and safe working environment by ensuring the FWBG’s policies and procedures are followed along with City of Fort Worth ordinances affecting the campus.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of campus. Conducts routine inspections for violations of security regulations, vandalism, trespassing, and tagging. Checks locked doors and gates.
  • Responds promptly to emergencies including medical problems, criminal activity, and related traffic control opportunities. Performs and guides the completion of incident reports and investigations.
  • Monitors private vehicles behind the pay gate on campus including employees, contractors, vendors, and clients to ensure compliance with the Vehicles on Campus Policy.
  • Identifies and promptly addresses maintenance or safety issues, escalating concerns to the Director of Facilities or Senior Director of Guest Experience, as needed.
  • Serves as the Safety Point of Contact (SPOC) for Security Team.
  • Welcomes and directs guests to the location they are seeking and provides general information and assistance as requested to guests.
  • Provides regular coaching and performance feedback to Security Team members.
  • Reviews and approves time off requests and biweekly timesheets for all team members.
  • Meets and directs or escorts emergency vehicles responding to incidents at the Garden.
  • Trains and assists contract, substitute, or second shift officers.
  • Collaborates with other departments to coordinate access and assistance needed for events, rental clients, project contractors, and maintenance vendors as well as to enhance security measures and emergency preparedness.
  • Maintains daily security logs, prepares a variety of inspection reports, maintains and updates various records, and provides regular reports to Senior Director of Guest Experience.
  • Identifies and reports safety concerns to management and the HR & Safety Coordinator with recommended solutions.
  • Communicates with others clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Engages in all campus communication methods to stay informed and share information. This includes email, MS Teams, texts, calls, and online newsletters.
  • Trained in use of AED, CPR, and First Aid.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety protocols and workplace policies.
  • Experience in similar security position, military security, or law enforcement.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn and utilize online system for staff scheduling and timecards.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate certification or license may be required depending on assignment
  • Able to work outside in Texas climate conditions.
  • Every FWBG employee is expected to possess and be willing to use a mobile device for timekeeping and business communications via calls/texts/emails/Teams’ messages.
  • Full time members of the security team are required to be available and willing to work a flexible schedule 7 days a week, 363 days per year from opening to closing including hours of public and private events to ensure the security of the Garden and guests.
  • Willingness to participate in and successfully complete assigned anti-harassment, child protection, and supervisor training courses.
