About The Position

This position is based at the Flagstaff Campuses and provides security at College facilities by patrolling and observing the activities of persons in and around buildings and grounds. This involves assessing and defusing problem situations and exercising tact and judgment in resolving concerns. Maintains and develops security related databases. . Evenings, weekends and holiday hours may be required. (This position will require working on Saturdays when the college is open). This is a full-time, 12 month benefit eligible position. Coconino Community College is Equal Employment Opportunity Responsible for the enforcement of security procedures and guidelines Presents a uniformed presence to deter criminal activity by patrolling and observing college campus parking lot and surrounding areas Ensures student and staff accessibility to the College at the appropriate scheduled times by locking and unlocking buildings, classrooms and offices Responds to reports of disturbances or irregularities on campus Enforcement of parking regulations Investigates safety hazards, criminal events and traffic collisions as reported Documents concise and accurate Incident Reports, Security patrol logs and other required documentations Assists local law enforcement as required Work an On-Call status/rotation to respond to call outs such as After-hour alarm calls etc. Performs Motorist assistance including jump-starts and assisting vehicles stuck in the snow and ice Provides assistance to students and staff as requested Provides direction assistance to students and visitors as needed Operates and monitors computer controlled security and fire alarm systems Performs security duties for non-college business and/or contracted services (i.e. Bookstore, Food Service, Page City Library and Fourth Street Tenants) Build, update and maintain security related forms, records keeping, checklists and templates using contemporary software programs Builds and maintains the Database for keys and Incident Reports for the Lone Tree, Fourth Street, and Page Campuses Assists the Chief of College Security in training new employees in all facets of job duties as well as other educational programs designed and implemented throughout the college Functions as the terminal contact and Administrator for T2 (Campus vehicle registration program). Run and produce statistical information as requested Maintain current user authorization and permission with the Department of Motor Vehicles to research license plate numbers of unregistered vehicles, research information with the Student information system and the campus vehicle registration parking system. Builds or adjust templates and schedules within door control, surveillance and alarm systems. Assists in snow removal duties that includes, but is not limited to shoveling, operating snow blower, dump truck, back hoe, Bobcat, and other various equipment. Have a positive approach and service oriented approach with students and staff Ability to work collaboratively and in a professional manner with co-workers Performs other duties as assigned Must display the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of students and employees, state and local law enforcement agencies, and other College or University Law Enforcement. Must also display the ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine if law enforcement is required and/or the proper course of action. Requirements

  • Must display the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of students and employees, state and local law enforcement agencies, and other College or University Law Enforcement.
  • Must also display the ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine if law enforcement is required and/or the proper course of action.
  • Must be able to make important decisions based on procedures, guidelines and knowledge without supervisor input.

  • Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field and one year of security, law enforcement experience or experience in a related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job and/or as approved by the Human Resources department.
  • Computer skills/familiarity with word processor and spreadsheets required.
  • Possess a valid Arizona's Driver License.
  • Have a criminal background showing no felony or major misdemeanor convictions.
