About The Position

The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment within the hospital premises. This role involves guarding, patrolling, and monitoring the premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules. The officer will patrol the premises to detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates. They will respond to alarms, investigate disturbances, and monitor the entrance and departure of employees and visitors to maintain security. The officer will also write reports of daily activities and irregularities, call emergency services when necessary, and circulate among visitors and employees to preserve order. The position requires maintaining good service excellence and service recovery skills at all times.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma. Some College or Higher Education preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in security, psychiatric or acute care hospital experience a plus.
  • PERC card preferred, CPI a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to interact effectively and politely with hospital staff, visitors, doctors, etc.

  • Answers alarms and investigates disturbances.
  • Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintains security of premises.
  • Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Calls police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Circulates among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
  • Warns persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehends or evicts violators from premises, using force when necessary.
  • Operates detecting devices to screen individuals and prevents passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.
