As an Armed Patrol Officer at a government location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will communicate clearly with staff and visitors, respond to concerns, and document observations with professionalism. This post requires an armed guard card/license. Requirements

  • Possess an armed guard card/license.
  • Have 6 months or more of armed security-related, law enforcement, and/or military experience.
  • Be 21 years of age or older.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government location.
  • Perform armed post duties in accordance with post orders, applicable laws, and licensing requirements, including maintaining control of issued equipment.
  • Control access at designated entry points by verifying identification, authorizations, and appointments; assist with visitor processing and direction-finding.
  • Support screening operations as assigned, including monitoring entry lanes, observing for prohibited items and/or suspicious behavior, and coordinating with site representatives when additional review is needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, parking areas, and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and other security-related systems when assigned; report irregular conditions and notify appropriate parties per site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical calls, disturbances, and unauthorized persons, and request law enforcement and/or emergency services when needed.
  • Document routine activity and incidents by completing detailed reports, logs, and witness statements; preserve information and observations for follow-up.
  • Assist with crowd management and orderly movement during peak periods, public meetings, and special events as directed by site leadership.
  • Perform access control for restricted areas, including key and badge accountability and verification of permissions.
  • Participate in briefings and training, maintain situational awareness of site rules and policies, and communicate professionally with site personnel and the public.
  • Support evacuation and shelter-in-place procedures when directed, including providing guidance to occupants and relaying information through the chain of command.
