About The Position

The Security Guard position at Carlsbad Municipal School District is a 12-month role under the direct supervision of the Principal. The primary responsibility is to patrol school buildings to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. The role involves enforcing school policies, conducting security patrols, and monitoring the premises to prevent unauthorized access and ensure the safety of all individuals on school property.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to successfully perform the duties of the position.
• Successful experience in security or law enforcement.
• Experience working with adolescents preferred.
• Ability to pass background checks and physical exams.

Responsibilities

• Provides for the safety and security of students, staff, visitors, and School District property in accordance with School District policies.
• Conducts ongoing security patrols of the building.
• Enforces Board policies, school rules, and regulations.
• Reports concerns and incidents which may require corrective action to Principal.
• Assists visitors to the school in receiving proper direction and maintains a log of all visitors.
• Prevents unauthorized persons from entering the building.
• Monitors exits and prevents unauthorized exits of the building by students.
• Checks student passes when classes are in session and escorts students to and from Principals' offices as directed.
• Physically separates students involved in altercations and maintains crowd control as needed.
• Monitors grounds in the morning to prevent loitering and improper parking of vehicles.
• Performs related duties as required.
