About The Position

As a Security Officer - 21+ Patrol Rover in Washington, DC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Cultural Institutions, and more. Join Allied Universal as an unarmed patrol officer at a cultural institution, where you will monitor galleries and public areas, conduct routine foot patrols, stay highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents, and respond to situations with calm professionalism. You will greet guests, assist staff, and communicate clearly while documenting observations and following site procedures. Bring teamwork and integrity to a caring, agile, reliable, and innovative team.

Requirements

  • Be at least 21+ years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff and visitors at a cultural institution by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols throughout public galleries, exhibit spaces, offices, and perimeter areas; observe for unusual activity and conditions that could impact operations.
  • Monitor access points, verify credentials when required, and help to deter unauthorized entry into restricted areas containing collections, equipment, and/or back-of-house spaces.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and visitor or staff concerns in a calm, problem-solving manner; request assistance from supervisors and/or public emergency services as needed.
  • Document patrol activities, incidents, and observations in written reports and logs; communicate updates to site leadership and shift relief.
