About the position

The Security Field Train Officer is responsible for patrolling the hospital facility both internally and externally, enforcing the policies, rules, and regulations of the hospital. This role includes providing directions and information throughout the hospital, assisting with security problems, and ensuring that all hospital entrance and exit doors are secure. The officer will also ensure that all personnel entering the complex or building on campus are properly identified and will write reports on incidents occurring on campus property. Additionally, the officer will report all irregularities, emergencies, or suspicious activity to the appropriate party and respond to security concerns from personnel, visitors, and patient families on any or all Children’s Health System of Texas properties. The officer will hear and respond to audible emergency alarms and instructions transmitted on the public safety radio, provide occasional personal escort services, and assist motorists when needed. A key responsibility is to provide one-on-one training and mentoring to new Security Officers in accordance with the Children’s Security Department’s Security Officer Training Program. The officer will complete and review Daily Observation Reports (DORs) with new Security Officers and assist their assigned Security Manager. Participation in the interview process for Security Officer and Security Dispatcher candidates may also be required. Assignments are subject to change at any time depending on the needs of the department, and the officer may perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Hear and respond to audible emergency alarms and instructions transmitted on the public safety radio
  • Respond audibly to public inquiries and transmit clearly over a public safety radio
  • Provide occasional personal escort services to students, staff, faculty or visitors
  • Provide motorist assistance when needed or requested
  • Provide one-on-one training and mentoring to new Security Officers in accordance with the Children’s Security Department’s Security Officer Training Program
  • Complete and review Daily Observation Reports (DORs) with new Security Officers utilizing the Task Rating Scale and Standardized Evaluation Guidelines
  • Assist their assigned Security Manager
  • Participate in the interview process for Security Officer and Security Dispatcher candidates as needed
  • Assignments are subject to change at any time depending on the needs of the department
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements

  • At least 2 years related experience (i.e. healthcare, hospitality, security, law enforcement or military) required
  • At least 1 year preferred in a training related role or equivalent years of duties (i.e. Customer service, healthcare, hospitality, security, law enforcement or military) preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Nice-to-haves

  • Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred
