Vaxcom Services LLC (a Parsons company) is looking for a talented Security Equipment Controls Technician to join our team! In this role you will get to provide technical guidance and expertise as part of an electronic security screening equipment program.

Requirements

  • Under general supervision, capable of performing all jobs including the most complex.
  • Must have prior certification and hands on experience with the following equipment: Hi Scan/Hi Trax 1, 2; IS600; B-Scan; and the Leidos IP6500.
  • Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practices.
  • Work is checked since errors may cause delay or expense.
  • Will assist and train less experienced personnel.
  • High School diplomas plus advanced technical training, and typically 2+ yrs of applicable technical experience.
  • Must be able to be medically cleared by the Client for OCONUS travel to sometimes austere locations.
  • Must be able to work as part of a small team exhibiting solid communication skills and the ability to be flexible to changing requirements.
  • An active Secret security clearance is required for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Would prefer candidates who possess a TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
  • Would prefer candidates who have IC experience and familiarity with their security screening procedures and equipment.
  • Previous OCONUS experience working with a variety of US organizations and personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains and repairs products such as baggage scanners, vehicle scanners, explosive trace detection and personnel scanners, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at the Client and/or field locations (both CONUS and OCONUS).
  • Perform routine calibration and maintenance of scanning systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with scanning equipment.
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate records.
  • Follow all safety and security protocols as per TSA or local regulations.
  • Instructs customers in system/equipment operation and provides technical assistance.
  • Provides on-site end-user training on maintenance and limited troubleshooting.
  • Performs one or many of a wide range of installation tasks such as running conduit and cable, installing and connecting trays, racks and electronic hardware systems, connecting and testing both new and retrofit construction of audio/visual, computer server, network and telecommunications equipment.
  • Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change.
  • Assembles, installs and configures systems and equipment in accordance with site assessments and schematics.
  • Completes system programming and optimization as part of the installation process.
  • Completes final commissioning and integrated acceptance testing of electrical systems and associated equipment.
  • Ensures the commissioning and final acceptance of critical path equipment is conducted to the Client's requirements and in accordance with applicable industry standards (API, ABS, DNV, etc.).
  • Performs routine system maintenance and analysis functions, including hardware configurations and adding, removing and replacing equipment components.
  • Travels frequently to Client sites (both CONUS and OCONUS) in performance of duties.
  • The employee is required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls in connection with operation of the equipment for extended periods of time.
  • The employee is required to reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must lift, manipulate, and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include satisfactory close vision and distance vision.
