The Security Engineering Intern position at Guidewire offers a unique opportunity for students pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Cybersecurity. This 3-month internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in securing software while working alongside a dedicated mentor and team members on meaningful security projects. Interns will engage in a collaborative environment, contributing to the mission of Guidewire, a leading software company for Property and Casualty insurers.

  • Engage in meaningful work on security projects that add value to Guidewire's mission.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated mentor and team members in the Security team.
  • Learn and apply security principles in a real-world business environment.
  • Participate in training and development activities to enhance technical skills.
  • Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Computer Science, with an expected graduation date of Spring 2025 or 2026.
  • Scripting and programming experience in Python or any other language.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth and common security elements.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) and experience with Infrastructure as Code to deploy and manage cloud workloads.
  • Familiarity with Intelligence Driven Defense, Cyber Kill Chain methodology, and/or MITRE ATT&CK framework.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Curiosity and a genuine love of technology and solving tough technical problems.
  • Accountability and a desire to meet expectations without prompting.
  • Kindness and respect for fellow teammates.
  • Understanding of algorithms and object-oriented design.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native infrastructure, including scripting and AWS services like EKS, Aurora/RDS, VPC.
  • Familiarity with back-end technologies, RESTful API concepts, and Microservices.
  • Understanding of web-based applications and OWASP secure coding practices.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code for cloud workloads.
  • Knowledge of OWASP secure coding practices and standards.
