We are seeking a Security Engineer to join our team supporting NRC GLINDA Systems Network and Cross Cutting program in Rockville, MD. We're looking for a skilled security professional with hands-on experience in the architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance of security management tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Palo Alto Networks Firewalls and a working knowledge of managing them with Panorama. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) GLobal Infrastructure and Development Acquisition (GLINDA) provides a wide variety of Information Technology (IT) support services to the NRC Headquarters located in Rockville, MD; with four Regional Offices. TekSynap is currently looking for a resource to join our Security Engineering team support NRC’s enterprise network components.   • Responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, support, maintenance, and expansion of security management tools.
  • Manage firewalls using Panorama.
  • Configure and troubleshoot IPSec tunnels.
  • Manage and maintain an SD-WAN environment.
  • Administer and work within Linux and Windows environments.
  • Perform hands-on administrative and operational work with various technologies.
  • Conduct Vulnerability and Configuration Compliance Scanning.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Configure and manage Security Logs.
  • Manage Network Security including firewalls, IPS/IDS, and WAFs.
  • Administer Data Loss Prevention Systems.
  • Oversee Endpoint Security and Advanced Threat Protection.
  • Administer DNS/DNSSEC.
  • Manage Email Security.
  • Perform Packet Capture and Protocol Analysis.
  • Implement Web-filtering and Web Content Security.
  • Manage Authentication & Encryption.
  • Review current configuration of security tools and suggest improvements.
  • Interact directly with customers to resolve complex issues.
  • Work after hours to upgrade/update security tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in security solutions, design, implementation, support, and maintenance.
  • Extensive experience managing firewalls using Panorama.
  • Strong understanding of BGP and other routing protocols.
  • Knowledge of network management tools.
  • Experience in leadership roles.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
  • Successfully pass drug screening.
  • Experience with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions such as Palo Alto Cortex XDR.
  • Experience with Forescout CounterACT.
  • Experience with Tenable Security Center/Nessus Manager.
  • Experience with Trillex ePO.
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender Suite including Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Office 365, Defender for Cloud Apps, and Defender for Cloud.
  • Experience with Cisco Email Security Appliance (ESA) Ironport Mail Gateways.
