About The Position

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for an Application Security Engineer to join our team. In this role you will aid our Information Security team and be responsible for assisting in identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities in applications and implementing robust security measures.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years' experience working with application security programs
• Ability to use GitLab and similar version control systems
• Familiarity with common security libraries, security controls, and common security flaws
• Basic development or scripting experience and skills. .NET Core, Go, and Python are preferred
• A basic understanding of network and web related protocols (such as TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, protocols)
• Experience identifying security issues through code review
• Understanding and experience with common security libraries, security controls, and common security flaws
• Understanding of modern application security tooling such as SAST, SCA, DAST, IAST, RASP
• Working knowledge of public cloud provider infrastructure. Google Cloud Platform is preferred
• Strong experience working closely with developers

• Be a subject matter expert (SME) of at least 1 technical area impacting the security of the products at Applied

Responsibilities

• Support application security reviews and threat modeling, including code review and dynamic testing
• Perform application security vulnerability management
• Assist in creation of security training
• Assist in development of automated security testing to validate that secure coding best practices are being used
• Document and report on findings
• Assist with the development of project plans and process documentation
• Own and perform application security vulnerability management
• Facilitate and support the preparation of security releases related to Applied products
• Facilitate and support application security reviews and threat modeling, including code review and dynamic testing
• Participate and assist in initiatives to holistically address multiple vulnerabilities found in a functional area
