To be successful as a Security Engineer, you should have experience with:

Requirements

  • Security engineering experience designing and implementing application-level security controls, with fundamentals in authentication, authorization, cryptography, and secure design patterns
  • Experience securing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems, including enterprise implementation of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SSO, and identity federation, and working on IAM platforms such as PingFederate, ForgeRock, or Okta
  • Experience building and operating security solutions in cloud‑native and containerized environments, with knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift, and on‑prem and public cloud platforms AWS
  • Experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and embedding security controls into CI/CD pipelines
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and platform teams to meet enterprise security standards and regulatory requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with DevSecOps practices, including security automation, policy-as-code, and integration of security testing/scanning tools into CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience to cloud security services and patterns, such as IAM, secrets management, key management, and secure networking in GCP, or Azure
  • Communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively with application, platform, and risk teams to drive secure-by-design outcomes

Responsibilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
  • Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
