About The Position

Innova Solutions is seeking an experienced Security Engineer / Tenable Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a remote contract role. The position requires extensive knowledge of the Tenable platform, particularly in troubleshooting and investigating network vulnerability scanning issues. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the Tenable platform across a global network, with a focus on Linux system administration and network troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Expert level knowledge of Tenable.io and Tenable SC platforms.
• Extensive experience with Linux system administration (Ubuntu and RedHat).
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and protocols.
• Experience with network packet capture and analysis using Wireshark.
• Proficiency in Bash and/or Shell scripting.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with network troubleshooting and analysis.
• Familiarity with security compliance standards and practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer the Tenable platform (tier 2) for network vulnerability scanning.
• Troubleshoot and support network vulnerability scan failures reported to the tier 2 team.
• Perform system administration on Linux servers (Ubuntu & RedHat), including user and group management, application deployment, and system health monitoring.
• Analyze network packet captures using tools like Wireshark and TCP-DUMP.
• Investigate and determine the root cause of scanner failures, false negatives, and false positives.
