About The Position

The ITG division of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has an exciting opportunity for a Security Engineer Team Lead. The Security Engineer Team Lead is a key member of the Security Operations Center (SOC). This role has the responsibility of planning, design, and implementation of organizational security strategies, acting as a senior expert for protecting infrastructure, networks, and data. They ensure that the proper security services are deployed to detect, analyze, respond to, and contain advanced attacks. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, strong problem solving and communications skills. This is a full-time hybrid position, in a positive and flexible environment. Residency within 100 miles of the Kansas City, Missouri office is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or university in a computer related field and 8+ years of experience with security products (i.e. Antivirus, Firewalls, Web Filtering, etc.), and/or equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
  • Four plus years’ experience with Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service, and Software as a Service cloud technologies.
  • Experienced in host, network and application security.
  • Familiarity with large Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Understanding of secure-cloud configuration, (CloudTrail, AWS Config, etc), cloud-security technologies (VPC, Security Groups, etc.) and cloud-permission systems (IAM).

Responsibilities

  • Ensures security software is up-to-date, patches vulnerabilities, and manages security policies within organization technologies.
  • Ensures that the organization’s data and infrastructure are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls
  • Provides support for the Cloud Security and Governance, Vulnerability Management, and Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) technologies. This includes design, implementation, reporting, monitoring, and documentation of procedures.
  • Provides support to the Incident Response team with Log collection and SIEM technologies. This includes design, implementation, tool use, reporting, monitoring, and documentation of procedures.
  • Researches, implements, and supports new and/or required security technologies as needed.
  • Conducts daily administrative tasks, reporting, and communication with the relevant departments in the organization and outside stakeholders where appropriate.
  • This position does not have direct reports.
  • This position will be the backup for the Security Operations Center Manager when needed by conducting meetings and managing team members.
  • They also may be called upon to supervise or direct the activities of NAIC acquired consultants.
