About the position

As a Senior Security Engineer at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in building robust cyber defense systems using advanced technologies. Your responsibilities will include designing and evaluating end-to-end systems, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards, conducting risk assessments, and developing new capabilities to protect our clients' missions. This position emphasizes the integration of cybersecurity throughout the systems development life cycle and requires strong analytical and communication skills to effectively manage security issues and collaborate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design and evaluate end-to-end systems throughout their life cycle.
  • Ensure compliance with customer information assurance and cybersecurity standards.
  • Conduct software and systems engineering to develop new capabilities.
  • Perform comprehensive technology research to identify vulnerabilities in cyberspace systems.
  • Design, develop, test, and evaluate information system security throughout the systems development life cycle.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for application design.
  • Manage security issues including architectures, firewalls, and network access.
  • Utilize encryption technology and perform penetration and vulnerability analysis.
  • Design and develop new systems and solutions for external customer enterprise-wide cyber systems.
  • Integrate new architectural features into existing infrastructures and provide engineering recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (business, engineering, or technical discipline).
  • 15+ years of experience in cybersecurity or related fields.
  • Must possess one of the following certifications: CISSP, CISM, CGRC, or Security+.
  • 5+ years of experience managing security remediation and configuration.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing network/system/application vulnerability scanning and security patching.
  • Experience supporting a Government agency, preferably Veterans Affairs.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills to resolve stakeholder conflicts.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cable engineering and cybersecurity operations.
  • Familiarity with intrusion detection and prevention systems.
