About The Position
The State of Minnesota is seeking dependable and enthusiastic individuals to join the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) as Security Counselors or Forensic Support Specialists. This role is critical in providing facility security and residential care to individuals within the Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) and the Forensic Mental Health Program (FMHP) at the St. Peter campus. The MSOP serves individuals who have completed their prison sentences and are civilly committed for sex offender treatment, while the FMHP offers psychiatric evaluation and treatment services to individuals diagnosed with mental illness who pose a risk to public safety. As a Security Counselor or Forensic Support Specialist, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the safety and well-being of clients. This includes providing informal counseling, implementing treatment plans, observing and documenting client behavior, encouraging participation in program activities, and providing security along with verbal and/or physical crisis intervention. The position requires flexibility in work hours, as shifts may include day, evening, rotating, or overnight schedules, and may involve full-time, part-time, or intermittent (on-call) work.
