About The Position

The Taft Museum of Art, located in downtown Cincinnati, is seeking a part-time Gallery Security Associates to work first shift and after-hour events. This position will be reporting to the Manager of Security. This position requires a positive, highly organized team player who communicates proactively, is attentive to detail, manages multiple priorities, and has excellent communication and collaborative skills. Reporting directly to the Manager of Security, the Security Associate is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the Taft Museum of Art’s guests, staff, contractors, vendors, collections, exhibitions, and physical assets. The role requires sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to meet established priorities and timeframes while ensuring an exceptional guest experience and a positive working environment for all team members.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Candidates must have strong customer service & interpersonal skills and possess a strong ability to work with the public.
  • The capacity and capability to work in a fast-paced, multitasked environment, deal with changing priorities, work well under pressure.
  • Physical Capability: Able to move briskly through the building, climb ladders and stairs, operate a lift, respond quickly to alarms and events requiring maintenance involvement, deal with emergencies, and help where needed.
  • Be able to sit, stand, or patrol for extended periods.
  • Be able to bend, stoop, or work with hands above shoulder level.
  • Be able to lift fifty pounds.
  • Able to work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Museum are required.
  • Must speak English and communicate effectively.
  • You are authorized to work in the US

Nice To Haves

  • Previous security or museum experience is a plus but not required.
  • CPR/AED, First Aid certification and training desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the museum according to established procedures.
  • Maintain the safety and security of guests, staff, contractors, vendors, collections, exhibitions, and other museum assets.
  • Share safety information and museum etiquette with staff, volunteers, vendors, and visitors in a professional and positive manner.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to facility emergencies.
  • Conduct or assist with evacuations due to fire or other emergency situations.
  • Report for after-hours emergencies as needed.
  • Staff assigned security posts and conduct foot patrols to ensure the facility and grounds are safe and secure.
  • Identify and report safety or security concerns, including fire hazards, leaks, unsecured doors or windows, and grounds issues.
  • Monitor personnel and parcels entering and exiting the museum.
  • Prepare timely and accurate incident or issue reports for review by the Manager of Security.
  • Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at the museum entrance to support safe, orderly operations.
  • Deliver an excellent guest experience throughout the museum.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
