About The Position

The Security and Discipline Officer member maintains a safe and orderly environment. This individual will manage traffic control during morning arrivals and afternoon dismissals, assist the High School (HS) and Middle School (MS) Assistant Principals (AP) with student discipline and observation, and ensure the overall security of the school. The role requires vigilance, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and the public.

  • Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations.
  • Basic knowledge of traffic control procedures and student behavior management.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed for school events and athletic games.
  • A clean background check and any necessary certifications required by the school district.
  • The role requires standing, walking, and directing traffic for extended periods.
  • Must be able to handle potential physical confrontations calmly and effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and further education or training in security, law enforcement, or a related field is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a security, law enforcement, or school supervisory role is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage traffic flow in the school area during morning arrivals and afternoon dismissals to ensure students' safety and the school's smooth operation.
  • Assist students and parents safely crossing the road and monitor the school’s parking areas.
  • Support the HS and MS Assistant Principals in handling discipline issues.
  • Monitor student behavior in and around the school to ensure compliance with school policies.
  • Conduct regular patrols of school grounds to deter and address inappropriate behavior or security issues.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the school premises to promote a safe and secure environment.
  • Respond promptly to incidents or emergencies, following the school’s protocols.
  • Collaborate with school administration and local law enforcement to address security concerns.
  • When necessary, assist with supervision during school events, assemblies, and athletic games.
  • Stay for athletic games and other after-school events for additional compensation as required.
  • Prepare and submit reports on incidents, observations, and other relevant matters to the Principal.
