About The Position

The Security Alarm System Technician III provides expert-level technical support for Department of Energy Consolidated Service Center–Oak Ridge (CSC-OR) security and fire alarm systems. This position supports the planning, acquisition, installation, testing, maintenance, operation, and lifecycle management of integrated security alarm, access control, CCTV, and fire alarm systems across federally owned, GSA-leased, and commercially leased facilities. The Senior Technician serves as a technical authority for security and fire alarm systems, ensures compliance with DOE Orders and site security directives, and supports mission continuity through rapid response, preventive maintenance, system performance testing, and lifecycle sustainment activities. This position is onsite in Oak Ridge, TN. Requirements

Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property.
Maintain required certifications and proficiency for all supported systems, including Hirsch, Honeywell Vindicator, Siemens Cerberus Pro, Avigilon, performance testing, and network (Cisco) certifications
Complete required initial and recurring training
HS Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five (5) years of experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic security alarm systems in commercial, industrial, or government facilities.

Nice To Haves

Manufacturer certifications is preferred
NICET certification in Electronic Security Systems or related discipline preferred
Experience supporting federal facilities, military installations, or critical infrastructure environments is preferred
Demonstrated expertise with intrusion detection systems, access control platforms, and video surveillance systems.
Strong understanding of low-voltage wiring, control panels, sensors, cameras, and networked security devices.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system documentation.
Experience working in regulated or high-security environments.
Willingness to support on-call rotations and respond to emergency service calls.

Responsibilities

Install, inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, operate, and maintain security alarm systems, access control systems, CCTV systems, fire alarm systems, and associated electronic circuits across CSC-OR managed facilities and designated DOE locations.
Manage all security alarms, video surveillance systems, and access control platforms to ensure continuous availability, reliability, and compliance with DOE directives and site security requirements.
Maintain legacy fire alarm systems until replacement or modernization is completed, coordinating activities with CSC Maintenance and other stakeholders as required.
Oversee and coordinate the extended service agreement with Johnson Controls (JCI)/Truesite to ensure fire protection systems remain fully functional, including notifying the COR of deficiencies and providing corrective action plans.
Develop, execute, and manage a preventive maintenance program in accordance with manufacturer manuals, DOE Orders, and approved maintenance schedules.
Develop, maintain, and update lifecycle maintenance and budget forecasting documentation, including end-of-life assessments, replacement costs, licensing renewals, batteries, monitors, and related system components, and provide reports to the COR.
Assess the effectiveness of security system layouts and configurations to ensure compliance with DOE directives, Site Security and Emergency Management Plans, and manufacturer performance standards.
Coordinate, support, and participate in security system performance testing, including scheduling, assisting Protective Force Performance Testers, executing tests, documenting results, and implementing corrective actions.
Respond to emergency calls from the Oak Ridge Operations Center within required response times and restore inoperable systems within established repair timelines, coordinating with the COR when delays occur.
Provide facility access in security systems based on approved keyless access requests and ensure accurate access control configuration and documentation.
Maintain, protect, and update computerized drawings, system documentation, configuration records, and maintenance logs, providing written updates to the COR for system changes.
Ensure all classified and sensitive unclassified information is properly marked, protected, and controlled in accordance with DOE Orders and security requirements.
Maintain safe, secure, and orderly workspaces where security and fire alarm equipment is installed or stored.
Maintain required certifications and proficiency for all supported security and fire alarm systems, completing initial and recurring training as required, including travel when necessary.
Identify and recommend system enhancements, upgrades, and efficiency improvements to maintain modern, effective, and reliable security and fire alarm system environments.
Perform other related duties necessary to ensure security alarms, access control systems, video systems, and electronic circuit requirements are fully met.
