About The Position

At the Shelby, we are seeking a dedicated and professional Overnight Security Guard to ensure the safety and security of our guests, staff, and property during the night hours. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining a welcoming environment and providing excellent service to guests while conducting detailed patrols and fostering a sense of security.

Requirements

• 1+ years of loss prevention/security in a hotel, hospitality, or fast-paced environment preferred.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of all property safety and security procedures.
• Must be service-oriented with excellent customer service and sales skills.
• Must be able to effectively communicate to guests, management, and coworkers.
• Must be energetic and outgoing.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Must be able to follow directions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
• Must be a team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
• Must be able to understand and work with basic financial information and solve basic arithmetic problems.
• Ability to stand for the entire shift.
• Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of computer software (including Microsoft Office, Outlook).
• Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
• Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine patrols of the entire property ensuring the safety and security of guests.
• Perform protective and enforcement functions in a courteous and restrained manner.
• Observe and report any discrepancies.
• Spend the majority of the shift on foot patrol, walking, climbing stairs of the interior, garage, and perimeter of the hotel.
• Patrol parking lot ensuring safety of guests and property.
• Prepare routine logs of status of patrolled areas.
• Prepare security incident reports and notify appropriate managers when an incident occurs.
• Escort guests when asked to parking lot areas and assist with luggage if needed.
• Perform housekeeping duties during their absence overnight.
• Assist the Night Auditor with guest calls.
• Respond to guest questions regarding the hotel.
• Attend emergency training and procedures.
• Memorize and monitor life safety system installed at property.
• Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
• Maintain good working relationships and open lines of communication with all other departments.
