About The Position

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Public Health and Safety Division in Helena. This position oversees the EMS Systems, Trauma Systems and the Injury Prevention programs by working with staff, DPHHS Administration, stakeholders, and the public to develop and implement programs that improve systems of care. Major responsibilities include strategic planning and analysis, budget planning and finance management, grant project oversight and budget management, DPHHS policy implementation and personnel management. The section has regulatory functions, quality improvement functions and grant management functions that the supervisor oversees. The regulatory functions include trauma center application review, designation and maintenance, EMS agency application review, licensing, and maintenance. Quality improvement functions include the collection, analysis and reporting of system-level EMS agencies and hospitals. Grant management functions include environment scanning for new grant opportunities, guidance as grant applications are created, grant progress monitoring and grant budget tracking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in health sciences, behavioral/social sciences, or a closely related field.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in program planning and administration.
  • Knowledge of public health program administration, research methodology, and disease prevention and control.
  • Knowledge of state and federal funding requirements, and grant, contract, and budget management.
  • Knowledge of personnel management.
