About the position

The Section Manager for Information Technology, Systems Programming at the Los Angeles County Department of Human Resources is responsible for overseeing a comprehensive cybersecurity program. This role involves managing staff, coordinating security activities across departments, and ensuring alignment with organizational cybersecurity objectives. The manager will also provide technical consulting, develop strategies and policies, and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance information security across the county's IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Manage a comprehensive security program by planning work activities of staff responsible for supporting security programs.
• Provide technical consulting support for system requirements definition and align with organizational cybersecurity standards.
• Manage technical staff by performing supervisory tasks, promoting individual growth, and ensuring effective performance.
• Develop and implement department strategies, policies, and guidelines to promote efficient use of advanced technologies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders regarding IT issues, assessing business needs and recommending cybersecurity solutions.
• Analyze complex departmental business needs and recommend centralized technology solutions for efficient resource use.
• Manage the implementation of various IT projects by applying project management principles and coordinating with stakeholders.
• Manage the section's operational budget by reviewing expenditures and developing cost models.

Requirements

• Two years of experience at the level of Section Manager, Information Technology, ISD or Information Technology Specialist, ISD performing information security management functions.
• One year of experience as a project or team leader providing task direction and staff development.
• A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize alternative transportation.
