About The Position

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) is an emergency response entity, and this status can affect working hours, travel, and change in duties as needed. The Section Chief, Administration is responsible for managing the daily administrative operations of the organization in maintaining a culture of compliance, ethics, risk management/risk mitigation, and serving as the agency's records retention officer. This position works in identifying organizational development opportunities, implementing processes and procedures, and streamlining organizational flows to ensure efficiency and productivity. Reviews and addresses federal, state, and Texas A&M University System regulatory compliance issues and may serve as the agency's Ethics and Compliance Officer and Risk Manager. Develops contract bids and proposals, executes high-level reporting to Texas A&M University System members and state officials, and assesses the success of operational initiatives. Collaborates with department heads and senior level executives to ensure effective communication and cooperation among departments; coordinates the continuous review of interdepartmental processes for quality control and improvement; provides input on business operations and long-term strategic planning; monitors internal controls; assists in devising strategies and policies to meet the organization's objectives and goals; reports on the performance of the various departments, and presents findings and recommendations to leadership. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for initiative and independent judgment. This position reports to the Division Chief, Administration. This position is at-will status and serves at the discretion of the agency head. Salary is a fixed rate.
