About The Position

The position is responsible for managing the complete leasing cycle under the Authority's Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. This includes interviewing applicants, verifying income, conducting yearly reviews, and maintaining communication with residents and landlords. The role requires a combination of administrative tasks and direct interaction with the community to ensure effective housing assistance.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Three to five years of experience in a related area or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, business English, and basic arithmetic.
  • Some knowledge of standard bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of HUD and Authority policies related to Section 8 programs.
  • Skill in operating general office machines and computers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse backgrounds and establish working relationships.
  • Bondability and a valid Texas driver's license.
  • Eligibility for coverage under Authority fleet auto insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the complete leasing cycle under the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program.
  • Interview applicants and verify all sources of income to determine financial eligibility.
  • Conduct yearly reviews of residents' family income and household makeup to assess continued eligibility.
  • Issue vouchers from waiting lists or transfers.
  • Receive and reconcile funds owed to the agency by repayment agreements.
  • Maintain resident and landlord files and document historical logs for each resident.
  • Answer inquiries from residents and landlords regarding rent status and property corrections.
  • Pull files for re-examinations and notify residents and landlords of changes.
  • Request inspections and prepare inspection forms.
  • Prepare data sheets for accountants.
  • Establish and maintain contact with community social service agencies for resident referrals.
  • Counsel residents and assist in resolving issues between owners and residents.
  • Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, typing, filing, and mailing correspondence.
  • Perform other related Section 8 duties as assigned.
