About The Position

The position involves greeting patients and confirming their demographic and insurance information upon registration into scheduling software. The role requires securing copies of valid insurance cards and identification from patients, as well as scheduling appointments for various services, including office visits and radiology. The individual will also process insurance referrals and prior authorizations, provide necessary insurance information, and obtain patient consents related to Health Care Proxy’s, Advanced Beneficiary Notice, and HIPAA. Additionally, the position entails answering telephone calls, directing them to appropriate personnel, and maintaining the physician’s daily appointment schedule. The candidate will be responsible for organizing patient charts and department records, ensuring efficient retrieval of information, and assisting in the orientation of new personnel. The role emphasizes providing excellent service to patients, family members, visitors, and co-workers.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrated computer keyboarding skills.
  • At least one year of experience within the past 2 years as a secretary or Patient Access Representative in a medical setting.
  • Knowledge of processing referrals and prior authorizations.

Responsibilities
