About The Position

The Secretary for the Honors College and the School of Media & Communication at Bowling Green State University provides essential clerical support to both departments. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Serves as receptionist, greeting and directing visitors, students, staff, and faculty.
  • Answers college/school phone and directs calls as appropriate.
  • Prepares and/or transmits written correspondence through e-mail or print copy as directed.
  • Scans, photocopies, and assembles materials.
  • Opens and distributes mail.
  • Maintains office equipment, including keeping photocopiers and printers stocked with toner and paper.
  • Assists with troubleshooting and resolving equipment problems.
  • Maintains confidential files.
  • Compiles, enters, retrieves, and maintains information in database and student tracking systems.
  • Runs reports.
  • May assist with or perform maintenance of college/school website.
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings and special events.
  • Assists faculty and staff with special departmental projects and programs, including recruitment events and external speakers.
  • Helps maintain department conference room calendar.
  • Works with Bursar regarding billing.
  • Coordinates department purchasing and reimbursements through Chrome River and Falcons Purch systems.
  • Prepares travel itineraries, records attendance, and makes travel arrangements as necessary.
  • Provides support by participating in and chaperoning local and overnight learning community trips.
  • Assists with course development.
  • Provides work direction and may select, hire, schedule and provide formal feedback.
