About the position

INTERPOL is looking for a qualified candidate as a SECONDMENT Criminal Intelligence Officer, EMNA within the Exec. Dir. Police Services which is part of the Counter-Terrorism. The position is based in Lyon, France, for a duration of 36 months. The Criminal Intelligence Officer will coordinate and liaise with national law enforcement authorities of INTERPOL's member countries, focusing on strengthening border security and enhancing information sharing to counter terrorism threats. The role involves analysis, reporting, and supporting operational deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist member countries in the detection and positive identification of members of transnational terrorist groups and their facilitators.
  • Monitor and analyze information related to known terrorist groups and their affiliates.
  • Identify major or evolving terrorist threats and provide reports to inform the global intelligence picture.
  • Design and coordinate cross-border intelligence-led inter-agency operations.
  • Enhance the understanding and capacity of member countries by organizing training and capability development programmes.
  • Research, identify and promote technologies and other innovations that contribute to the prevention and investigation of terrorism.
  • Perform any other related duties as may be required by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Three to four years education at a University or other specialized higher education establishment (e.g. counter terrorism, justice, international relations) required.
  • Law enforcement training at a senior level.
  • At least three years experience in conducting investigations in counter-terrorism or other complex transnational organized crimes.
  • Extensive experience as a law enforcement officer, particularly in counter-terrorism or serious organized crime.
  • Sound background in specialized criminal investigations including regional and national expertise.
  • Experience working in an international environment.
  • Good knowledge of INTERPOL, its databases, tools and resources.
  • Professional fluency in English is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the countering of terrorism financing or cyber terrorism.
  • Knowledge of other official INTERPOL languages.
