The Secondary Teacher is responsible for educating students to achieve College and Career Readiness in alignment with the Mississippi Framework and Common Core Curriculum. This involves developing and implementing curriculum plans, preparing lessons that accommodate individual student differences, and presenting subject matter according to MDE and district guidelines. The teacher will utilize appropriate instructional strategies, materials, and equipment, assess student learning styles, and collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed. Cooperation with other staff members on instructional goals and methods is essential. The role also includes supervising teacher aides and volunteers, integrating technology into teaching, and assisting students in improving study habits. Teachers are expected to consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing, manage student behavior, and administer discipline according to policy. They will also assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities, act as a positive role model, and create a classroom environment conducive to learning. Maintaining open communication with parents and students, evaluating academic and social growth, and participating in professional development and school committees are also key aspects of this position.
