Secondary Special Education Teacher A successful candidate will be able to: Develop comprehensive Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs, fostering measurable growth. Design and evaluate effective positive behavior intervention and support plans that cater to students' communication, social, and sensory needs. Execute IEPs, regularly assess student performance, and meticulously monitor individual progress. Continuously update IEPs throughout the academic year to accurately reflect student progress and aspirations. Assess students' abilities to ascertain individual requirements for crafting IEPs and designing lessons. Strategize, coordinate, and allocate activities that align with students' IEPs to facilitate growth. Build strong relationships with students and deliver instruction using research-based strategies across whole-group, small-group, and individualized settings. Plan and implement high-quality lessons that align with state standards and integrate best practices such as explicit instruction, checks for understanding, and differentiated supports to promote achievement in all core content areas. Use a variety of formative and summative assessment tools to monitor student progress, inform instructional decisions, and provide timely, targeted feedback. Establish a structured, respectful classroom environment by consistently applying proactive classroom management techniques, restorative practices, and positive behavior supports. Actively engage in professional learning communities to analyze student data, co-plan lessons, and reflect on instructional practices. Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to foster a culture of academic excellence and a positive school climate.
