ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP. Assess student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals (e.g. behavioral, motor development and communication skills, academic needs, vocational abilities, etc.) for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration. Develop and implement annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students to include: present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the special education and related services required to meet those goals. Provides consultation to classroom teachers regarding classroom adaptions, instructional modifications, adaptive equipment, behavior modification plans and other similar instructional interventions to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan. Prepare a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements. Serve as primary special education contact for the parent. Conduct special education evaluations and reevaluations in collaboration with district evaluation team. Provide direction, supervision and evaluation of educational assistants as directed. Participates in and/or coordinates a variety of meetings (e.g. PLC, IEP, Department, School) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. Administer, under supervision, first aid and assistance to medically fragile children (e.g. tube feeding, toileting, diapering, etc.) for the purpose of providing appropriate care for children as assigned. Report incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code and school policies. Comply with School Board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations. Complete all district and state reporting requirements.
