About The Position

The SPED Teacher will create a supportive learning environment in which to help students meet their learning goals. Through interesting and diverse methods, successful strategies to reach IEP goals, and access grade-level curriculum. They oversee student progress by tracking assignment and exam grades to provide useful feedback. WCPA teachers are results-driven educators with experience in and commitment to standards-based curriculum and the use of data and assessments to drive instructional decisions. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, required
  • A California Education Specialist Credential (mild/mod); PIP/STSP/waivers will be considered
  • Familiarity with and/or the ability to learn SIRUS, IEP writing, and Special Ed Reporting Software
  • Familiarity with and/or the ability to learn RTI, co-teaching, collaboration, Push-In, Pull-out, Learning Lab Intervention, and small-group teaching models
  • Demonstrated mastery of classroom skills, including classroom management, planning, assessment, and instructional practice
  • Proficiency with various technologies and teaching tools

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and implementing lesson plans that lead to student understanding based on state standards
  • Providing an effective learning environment that reflects and facilitates student achievement
  • Assessing student progress and maintaining accurate records
  • Writing and conducting IEPs and facilitating IEP meetings
  • Proctoring Formal Assessments
  • Updating service logs and files
  • Communicating with partnering agencies
  • Participating in SST Meetings
  • Maintaining frequent communication with students, students' families, colleagues, and leadership
  • Participating regularly in professional development opportunities
  • Appropriately communicating and interacting with other professional staff in academic planning and school committee work.
  • Attending and participating in staff meetings, and extra-curricular/school-related activities, and committees.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional growth and working with administrators to formulate and complete professional development plans.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and demonstrating behavior that is conscientious and responsible.
