About The Position

The Secondary Markets Analyst is responsible for the analysis of Mortgage loan pricing and profitability for UFCU and its subsidiaries and supporting the Director, Capital Markets and Treasury in the management of the loan pipelines. This role provides transparency of UFCU’s loan portfolio composition, liquidity, interest rate risk, and credit risk positions and their impact on enterprise performance and profitability. The Secondary Markets Analyst performs loan sale operations including operating loan lock controls and executing loan sales and hedging transactions. The Secondary Markets Analyst reports to the Director, Capital Markets and Treasury.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with current mortgage lending laws and regulations, and strong understanding of documentation relating to residential real estate lending and conventional financing, and/or familiarity with credit union philosophies and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of the mortgage process, documentation, requirements; governmental and agency requirements; and terminology
  • Basic knowledge of the auto lending process, documentation, requirements; governmental and agency requirements; and terminology
  • Proficiency and(or) familiarity generating numerous financial reports and statements in a timely and accurate manner utilizing software applications including Bloomberg or LSEG Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, Optimal Blue and CompassEdge.
  • Basic knowledge of Python, Microsoft Business Intelligence, and SQL.
  • Superior communication skills with the ability to: Effectively listen to others Articulate understanding and explain complex information succinctly

  • Strong financial analysis skills, including experience with Excel modeling with ability to grow into

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance or relevant Capital Markets or Secondary Markets Experience replacing education.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience working in a financial analysis or lending function in a financial institution
  • Experience working with external financial auditors and examiners
  • Must be bondable

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a Capital Markets or Secondary Markets function for a Mortgage and / or Consumer Lending financial institution.
  • Experience with forward commitments, TBA trading, and interest rate swaps for balance sheet hedging.
  • Experience using Optimal Blue or similar mortgage pricing software

Responsibilities

  • Manage loan sales and loan hedging processes.
  • Support product profitability analysis reporting.
  • Monitors loan pipeline performance and reporting.
  • Performs margin management and pricing analysis and pricing consulting for the Mortgage channel.
  • Manages the approval process and documentation for price exception requests.
  • Support balance sheet analysis, including impacts to balance sheet for loan portfolio activities and MSR activities.
  • Administrator of Optimal Blue Product and Pricing Engine and CompassEdge.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting and Mortgage lending teams to maintain efficient communication and process flow between the various functions.
  • Work with auditors and examiners and other external parties as needed to support understanding of financial information and internal controls environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.
  • Completes required regulatory training as assigned.
  • Maintains strict adherence and compliance to all laws, rules, regulations and internal controls specific to your role, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Fair Lending regulations.
