About The Position

The Classroom Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing instruction aligned with District curriculum, state standards, and student learning needs. This position creates a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that supports academic growth, social-emotional development, and positive student behavior. The Classroom Teacher works collaboratively with administrators, colleagues, families, and support staff to promote student success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.
  • Valid South Dakota teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) required.
  • Knowledge of instructional best practices, curriculum standards, and assessment methods.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use technology and data to support instruction and student learning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver effective, standards-aligned instruction using district-approved curriculum and instructional strategies.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Integrate technology and instructional resources to enhance learning experiences.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and structured classroom environment.
  • Implement District and building behavior expectations consistently and fairly.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom culture for all students.
  • Assess student learning and maintain accurate academic records.
  • Provide timely feedback to students and families regarding progress and performance.
  • Prepare report cards, progress reports, and required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, and administrators to support student success.
  • Participate in student support meetings as required.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and required trainings.
  • Maintain appropriate licensure and certifications.
  • Follow District policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Supervise students during instructional and assigned non-instructional duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
