About The Position

The Secondary Hindi Teacher - Teacher Mentor position is responsible for teaching Hindi courses to students in Grades 6-8, combining both teaching and mentoring roles. This role emphasizes high expectations for student achievement, effective teaching practices, and collaboration with parents and the school community. The teacher will also participate in professional development and contribute to a positive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid Washington State teaching certificate with an endorsement in Hindi.
  • Experience working with high school aged students.
  • Ability to teach all levels of Hindi including Advanced Placement.
  • Knowledge of Bellevue School District's curriculum and instructional practices.
  • Commitment to equity through culturally relevant teaching practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in extensive travel, study, and/or residence in a Hindi-speaking country.
  • Literate in Hindi.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Hindi language instruction for 90%-100% of the instructional day.
  • Advise co-curricular clubs and activities.
  • Establish a culture for learning and provide clear communication with students.
  • Demonstrate effective teaching practices through questioning and discussion techniques.
  • Recognize individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address them.
  • Provide clear focus on subject matter content and curriculum.
  • Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment.
  • Use multiple student data elements to modify instruction and improve learning.
  • Design student assessments and maintain accurate student records.
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community.
  • Exhibit collaborative practices focused on improving instructional practice and student learning.
  • Participate in a professional community and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Establish student growth goals annually.
  • Direct activities of assigned non-certificated personnel.
  • Attend required staff meetings and participate in site-based decision-making processes.
