About The Position

The Secondary Employment Officer is an active Commissioned Police Officer, Sheriff Deputy, or State Trooper responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for Baptist Memorial Hospital (BMH) patients, visitors, and staff. This role involves enforcing established BMH and Security Department policies and procedures, as well as applicable state laws. The officer will perform various duties to maintain security and safety within the hospital premises.

Requirements

• Currently Employed / Active (2) years as a Commissioned Police Officer, Sheriff's Deputy, or State Trooper.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Completion of Certified Law Enforcement Training Academy.
• OC or Pepper Spray, Baton Certification.
• Possess or have the ability to obtain CPR/BLS/De-escalation certification within 14 days of hire.
• Knowledge of security and criminal investigation methods.
• Ability to communicate effectively and verbally de-escalate situations.

Nice To Haves

• College level course in Criminal Justice.
• Completion of CIT training and taser certification.
• Commercial Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Enforces the BMH security rules, policies, and procedures and applicable state laws.
• Maintains good standings on required certifications and licensures.
• Demonstrates exemplary interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
• Monitors and authorizes entrance and exits of individuals to guard against theft.
• Operates and monitors alarm, security, video management, and access control systems.
• Patrols on-foot and via company vehicle to monitor the hospital campus.
• Secures premises by patrolling property, inspecting buildings and access points.
• Responds to alarms, disturbances, and emergency situations using appropriate escalation of force.
• Documents occurrences and related acts as incidents occur.
• Maintains a detailed log of all activities.
• Maintains satisfactory disciplinary record with current employing law enforcement agency.
