About The Position

The Second-Shift Supervisor oversees the production of Second Shift (2 p.m. – 10 p.m.) manufacturing activities in the plant. This role directs the activities of all hourly bargaining unit employees on second shift by utilizing problem-solving and leadership skills to drive production, KPI performance, and SQDIP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity). The Second Shift Supervisor is responsible for all direct and indirect labor activities occurring on Second Shift.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a supervisory role, preferably within a manufacturing setting.
  • Proven track record of driving results and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products required, strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products preferred.
  • Data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at various organizational levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a union environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct hourly union employees in their assigned areas to execute and complete customer orders and all other plant activities.
  • Enforce all safety regulations and conduct safety audits to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Communicate pertinent information from second-shift operations to supervisors and managers, including safety concerns, material shortages, machine issues, order issues, quality concerns, labor relations, and other relevant information.
  • Ensure all employees are trained and qualified for their operational areas by collaborating with cell engineers to qualify employees in their assigned cells.
  • Monitor production schedules, address deviations, and communicate follow-up actions as needed.
  • Oversee third-shift maintenance employees to ensure timely completion of work orders, prioritizing safety and line downtime issues.
  • Conduct material audits as required.
  • Ensure third-shift material handlers stock cells appropriately to support productivity for the next shift.
  • Maintain shipping and receiving areas and ensure completion of all assigned work.
  • Manage employee attendance, time-off requests, and accurate timekeeping.
  • Administer third-shift employee management in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between Veeder-Root and the Union.
