About The Position

The Experienced Cook position in the culinary department of Food and Beverage involves assisting with the direction, preparation, and service of all foods produced in the culinary area. This role requires a strong foundation in cooking techniques and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two to four years of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certification as a food handler by the state of West Virginia.
• Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays, with flexibility in scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Perform specific cuts as assigned using standard knife skills.
• Understand and apply various cooking techniques for both cold and hot food production.
• Operate cooking equipment and understand the food products cooked by each item.
• Complete and submit food requisitions as needed.
• Assist in the development of new menu items.
• Follow recipes according to set standards to ensure consistency.
• Adhere to plating and panning specifications for food presentation.
• Follow directives from immediate supervisors.
• Complete assigned production tasks in a timely manner.
• Understand culinary terms and follow production lists.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work station at all times.
• Assist in all areas of the kitchen as required.
• Implement proper stock rotation procedures (FIFO).
• Apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Address opportunities and issues that arise in the culinary area.
• Follow proper food storage and food safety procedures.
• Maintain a courteous and gracious demeanor towards resort guests.
• Interact positively with the public and resolve guest problems and complaints appropriately.
