About The Position
The Topeka Zoo is seeking motivated and fun individuals for seasonal animal care employment working at the Adventure Trail area. This position is a temporary, non-benefit eligible role that performs duties impacting meaningful zoo guest experiences. Responsibilities include the care of the Lorikeet aviary, which involves daily husbandry, enrichment, interaction with zoo guests, and guest feeding opportunities, all according to USDA and AZA standards. Additionally, the role includes the care and monitoring of the Farm Yard, which also requires daily husbandry and guest interaction. The position will also involve husbandry for trumpeter swans and five birds of prey. Staff will work in a team setting performing duties that range from animal husbandry, upkeep, guest interaction, and operation of the area. Training will be provided for some point of sale opportunities, as well as work rentals and events. Excellent customer service and animal wellness are essential components of this role.
