About The Position
The Illinois Department of Agriculture is seeking individuals, for temporary employment not to exceed 6 months, for the Illinois State Fair summer season. Temporary employees are needed for the following area: Grandstand. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to work in a constantly changing fast paced environment. Successful candidates will be individuals who can work promptly and efficiently in order to maintain that the Illinois State Fair, as well as non-fair events, run effectively. Requirements
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of eight years of elementary school.
- Must be able to pass a name-based sex offender registry check.
- Must be able to work all 11 days of the Illinois State Fair, which may include nights and weekends.
- Must be able to work for up to 10 hours a day or more, possibly outdoors.

- Prefers experience working with the public and assisting with general inquiries.
- Prefers experience with cash handling.
- Prefers experience with basic office equipment and computer programs.
- Prefers elementary knowledge of basic math and alphabetizing.
- Prefers experience with maintaining satisfactory working relationships with management, other employees, and members of the public.
- Prefers experience with understanding and following written and oral instructions.
Responsibilities
- Under immediate supervision, and on a temporary basis for a period not to exceed six months, performs a variety of unskilled manual labor and/or simple clerical duties.
- Assists customers with the purchasing of Illinois State Fair entertainment event tickets taking place at the Illinois State Fair Grandstand, Multipurpose Arena, etc., during the fair season.
- Assists with the handling of customer service inquiries regarding the Illinois State Fair Grandstand, Multipurpose Arena, or other ticketed entertainment events during the Illinois State Fair.
- Scans tickets of customers attending concerts or other fair ticketed entertainment events during the fair.
- Performs a variety of office/clerical duties.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
