Seasonal Camp Director Who We Are The mission of Lionheart / Skylark is to see the lives of children and families transformed by the Gospel through Christ-centered childcare and summer camps, in partnership with the local church. Purpose of Skylark: To grow the family of God in depth, number, and intimacy. Mission of Skylark: To make disciples of Jesus by partnering with local churches and operating excellent, gospel-integrated camps. The Camp Director serves in a ministerial role during the camp season—helping accomplish Skylark’s mission through evangelism, discipleship, and shepherding. While this position carries leadership responsibility, it is seasonal in nature and centered on the unique ministry opportunities of summer programming. The most important outcomes are the spiritual outcomes supporting the purpose, vision, and mission. The Camp Director shepherds like Christ (1 Peter 5:1–4): praying for the team, ministering through Scripture, and equipping staff for kingdom impact through gospel-integrated environments, evangelism, church invitations, and discipleship. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years in Christian camping or youth ministry leadership
  • A proactive, self-starting approach to projects and problem-solving
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A gift for building relationships and healthy team culture
  • Ability to manage a team efficiently and compassionately
  • Ability to work on-site at the partner church
  • Successful completion of required trainings: Rockwall Archery Tag Inflatables CPR/First Aid/AED

Responsibilities

  • Lead & Manage Camp Implement 11 weeks of spiritually deep, high-energy, developmentally excellent camp programming
  • Lead the camp toward spiritual goals with intentionality and joy
  • Engage with parents and campers to ensure exceptional experiences
  • Lead and supervise 20–40 summer staff
  • Ensure child and staff safety throughout camp
  • Maintain alignment with summer budgets
  • Hire, Train & Disciple Staff Partner with the Area Director to hire summer staff
  • Manage candidates through each stage of the hiring and onboarding pipeline
  • Build and lead staff training, including Summer Staff Orientation
  • Spiritually develop and disciple your team
  • Partner with the Local Church & Community Build strong relationships with church partner staff
  • Coordinate with church partners on logistics, storage, spiritual goals, recruiting, enrollment, and camper scholarships
  • Attend Sunday services during the camp season to maintain partnership and presence
  • Grow Personally Pursue ongoing spiritual growth and professional development
  • Meet goals, deadlines, and ministry objectives with excellence
