Location: This position is located in INDOT's Fort Wayne Sub. Role Overview: This position will provide assistance in the Mechanics Repair Shop to include data entry, repair scheduling, vehicle delivery, vehicle cleaning, building cleaning and assisting in parts retrieval from vendors or other INDOT locations along with other various tasks as required. Pay Rate: This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $16.24 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. A Day in the Life: Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies. Performs routine facilities maintenance, such as changing light bulbs, painting, and checking fluid levels. Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal. Delivers vehicles, parts, and equipment to various district locations. Receives, stocks, and organizes inventory. Assists mechanics and other staff in routine maintenance and inventory procedures. Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements. Performs basic lawn maintenance, including mowing, trimming, and minor landscaping. May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and inventory and may answer basic questions. May report issues with vendors to supervisor. May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
