About The Position

LAPEER COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT SEASONAL SHIFT LEADER General Summary Under the supervision of the Parks Director, trains and supervises seasonal staff on tasks related to maintaining and operating the County parks, and performs or delegates those tasks as necessary. Enforces established park rules and regulations. Monitors and manages pool safety, concession stand, park cleanliness and staff duties in the absence of the Facility Manager. Essential Functions Supervises temporary and seasonal employees. Participates and directs staff to maintain the County parks In the absence of, or as delegated by the Facility Manager, responsible for the management of summer revenue producing facilities, including supervision of lifeguards and concession staff, water slides, pools, and concession operations. Regularly inspects parks and facilities in order to evaluate parks operations and work performed. Assists in monitoring safety and inventory in both waterpark and concessions. Helps maintain pool chemicals daily. Maintains written records of all incident reports, and various other records. Insures park is operated safely to protect facilities, staff, and visitors. Including; playground equipment, food handling/preparation, amusement ride equipment, grounds equipment, and all buildings. Reports and responds to complaints related to park safety and operations, such as facilities out of order or other maintenance problems, as well as issues related to park rules and regulations and emergency situations. Trains seasonal and temporary workers on safety procedures. Maintains a daily log of tasks related to a specific project or general operations and prepares records of parks usage. Oversees opening and closing as needed, including park walk through, waterpark opening and drawer cash counting. Insures concessions are properly stocked and tracks inventory. Requesting supplies as needed. Manage staff breaks including lifeguard and pool/concession attendants. Other Functions Complete other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • High School graduation or equivalent.
  • Current Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid certifications, or ability to obtain before start of season.
  • Decision-making skill and public relations.
  • Ability to manage a team.
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • SERV Safe certification a plus.
